EXPLORE K-4
"The most important outcome of education is to help students become independent of formal education."
Paul E. Gray
Classes for Year:
*Seminar
Children will go through a seven step research process:
(1) Choosing a topic
(2) Writing Research Questions
(3) Research
(4) Organization
(5) Goal Evaluation
(6) Creating a Product
(7) Presentation
*Children are getting all the details about this class. They should know the steps, what it takes to be successful, and all about that complex rubric! You should see a letter explaining it all to you with the rubric in your child's folder. They can earn points for your signature on it...and the contract. Questions...just ask!
*Topics are being brainstormed and research questions are being compiled.
*We ARE Authors
Each group will create, write, edit, and publish a children’s
book to enter in a competition.
*All classes have discussed/practiced author's purpose and looked at some winning books from previous years. They played judge as they decided why books were chosen as winners. Hmmm? Ask them about P.I.E.... *Story Sticks are allowing students to review characters, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution while having a little creative thinking fun.
*Which will each group choose? Fiction or nonfiction?
